This historical coloured map covers Southeast Asia, part of India and northern Australia showing Islands, seas, rivers estuaries, place names, Malay Peninsula depicted with a channel at the southern end and where "Sincapura" was written, and where 'The Indis of orient" that is "The East Indies" was written across the peninisula, Trapobana (Sumatra), Lytil Jaua (Java) depicted as much enlarged and next to very enlarged Sumbawa (Island), enlarged Flores, Timor, northwest coastline of Borneo, southeast coastline of Palawan and part of the coastline of Mindanao of Philippines, Ceylon, Colombo, Malacca, Palembang, and others. Notes and paintings of human inhabitants, trees, a scene of a procession, an elephant and a hut are also shown. "the sey of the Indis of orient" that is "the sea of the East Indies" was written on the sea portion of the map where Celebes Sea is located.
This map of South and Southeast Asia is oriented with south at the top.  The map was part of a manuscript nautical atlas "The Boke of Idrography", was dedicated and presented to Henry VIII
