This map shows the early demarcation and development of Singapore town and land use of its adjoining districts, district names, physical landscape, lot boundaries, roads, rivers, canals, hachures, public buildings, detached buildings, wooden and thatched (attap) buildings, police stations, churches, mosques, temples, joss houses, villages (kampongs), nutmeg, coconut and fruit plantations shown by symbols of the trees, sugar plantations, vegetable gardens, forests, race course, brickeries (brickworks), swamps, coral reefs, burying grounds (cemeteries), Government House,  tombs of Malayan Princes, Bugis Village, Tanjong Pagar Village, Temenggong of Johore's residence, Residence of the Sultan of Johore, Mount Palmer, Mount Wallich, Mount Erskine, Scotts Hill, Pearls Hill, Fort Fullerton, Singapore River, Kallang River, Geylang River, Rochor River, Districts of Toa Payoh (Toah Pyoh), Rochore, Kallang, Paya Lebar (Pyah Laebar), Siglap, Geylang (Gaylang), Tanglin, Claymore, Tanjong Pagar and Telok Blangah (Tulloh Blangan), Serangoon Road, Paya Lebar Road, Geylang Road, Kallang Road, Queen (Victoria) Street, Hill Street, New Bridge Road, Commercial Square, Telok Ayer Street, North Canal Road, Cross Street, North Bridge Road, South Bridge Road, Salat (Kampong Bahru) Road, River Valley Road, Tanglin Road, Orchard Road, Selegie Road, Bencoolen Street, Hospital Street (Stamford Road), Brass Bassa (Bras Basah) Road, Middle Road, Stevens Road, Bukit Timah Road, Garden (Thomson) Road, Cross Garden (Moulmein) Road, Balestier Road, Rochor Road (Lavender Street), Market Road (Crawford Street), projected streets, canals, market, and Chinese and seamen's hospitals at Kampong Malacca off New Bridge Road, and others. Much of Geylang was covered by coconut plantations; Orchard Road had large nutmeg plantations; Tanjong Pagar used to be hilly and covered with fruit orchards and small nutmeg plantations.
