Laying of 78 Pairs and 120 Pairs Underground Cables
File contents are mainly the following external correspondence relating to underground cable pairs:
- payments by Singapore Telephone Board (STB) for rental of six cable pairs between Dunearn Road Cable Hut and Bukit Timah Radio Station for the periods from 1 April 1972 to 31 March 1973, and 1 April 1973 to 31 March 1974; - friendly games between STB & TAS organized by Telerec Association which was under registration; and - a minute dated 8 November 1973 from STB proposing to Manager (Planning), TAS that a meeting be convened to discuss 4 lb (i.e. 4-pound copper wire per mile) cable pairs be provided for trunk links between the microwave station at Fort Canning and the C8 Trunk Exchange in Orchard due to difficulties to lay and terminate a large number of multi-ways pipes in Orchard, Fort Canning and along public roads. TAS had no objection to the use of 4-pound cable.
