[6 pages]  The contents of the file from 9 to 21 April 1973 records Singapore’s successful bid (Singapore Director/Runme Shaw) to host the 19th Asian Film Festival; President B.H. Sheares to open and Minister Jek Yeun Thong to close. Ministry of Culture requested $1,200 from MOF(B) to host a 150-person reception at the Istana. MOF(B) supported government bearing the cost but directed MOC to seek funding from the Tourist Promotion Board (TPB), which agreed; funds not charged to the central Conferences vote.
