[140 pages] The file contains files regarding the fate of the Chinese Volunteers Overseas Army post World War 2. the army was a voluntary irregular army formed before the War to fight the Japanese invasion, and was known as Dalforce, after its commander Colonial J D Dalley. The members of the army requested that it should be demobilized with a proper ceremony. They also requested that they should be compensated (monetarily and otherwise) for their contributions against the Japanese. The British officers in Singapore, Malaya and London went through great length to discuss the legitimacy of the force, the compensations for the members etc. They were quite concerned that the Dalforce issue, if not properly handled, would cause problems in the future. Meanwhile, Dalforce matched to request for demobilization, and even went to London to petition. The media also reported on the army.
