Distubances at Pulo Bukom
[6 pages] This file is about an outbreak of violence among the workers of The Shell Company of Straits Settlements Limited at Pulo Bukom on 9 July 1946. The company sent a copy of the report written by their Pulo Bukom Installation Manager to the Secretary of Chinese Affairs, E.C.S. Adkins who in turn reported it the Colonial Secretary. Adkins asked the company if there was likelihood of repercussions and if there were any indications of racial trouble. The last enclosure is a letter dated 30 July 1946 from the company to Adkins informing him that there has been no further labour troubles nor any indications of racial disputes.
