International Telex Exchange For Singapore
File contents are mainly tenders and external correspondence relating to an international Telex exchange including:

Tenders
- a letter from M/s Telephone Industries of Singapore Pte Ltd (TIS) to Telecommunications Department in August 1971 clarifying their tender offer for an Automatic International Telex Exchange (AITE).  On 10 March 1972, TIS submitted a proposed equipment layout plan of the combined Automatic National Telex Exchange (ANTE) and AITE on the 3rd floor of Telecommunications Building, 35 Robinson Road for approval by Telecommunications Department.  The AITE was expected to be established and commissioned in early 1974;

Correspondence (External)
- an interim interworking arrangement between Singapore ANTE and Hong Kong (HKG)'s new AITE.  A compatibility test was scheduled on 28 February 1972.  A telex message dated 2 June 1973 was sent from Telecommunications Department to Cable & Wireless (C&W), HKG on mutual telex circuits to be established on both AITEs in early 1974 using Type C Signalling for automatic and semi-automatic operations.  C&W HKG confirmed that Type C Signalling could be adopted in early 1974;
- high proportion of telex calls loss on London (LON)/Singapore (SG) route due to shortage of telex circuits.  As such, four additional telex circuits would be implemented on 30 November 1971.  LON enquired when could semi-auto working be introduced in the LON to SG direction via SG's new ANTE and proposed that compatibility tests on semi-auto working using Type 'B' keyboard signalling be started on 31 January 1972.  LON and SG agreed to the date of introduction of semi-auto working on 15 April 1972; and
- similar interim interworking arrangement between Singapore ANTE and Hong Kong's and London's telex exchanges was extended to other countries such as Australia, Japan, India, the USA, Canada, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Germany.
