BFBS - FM Network
498 Pages. The BBC had operated a radio transmitting station  in Singapore for the British Armed Forces stationed in Singapore.  This station was known as the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) and the transmitting station was at Jurong.  When the decision was made for the British troops to withdraw from Singapore after 1971, the British government through its High  Commission in Singapore  explored ways for its capital equipment to be taken over by RTS in return for the continued broadcast of its programmes for a few hours.  The file contains the assessment by various Ministries and government agencies of BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) following PM Lee's suggestion for RTS to take over the BFBS. The file also covers the selection of a suitable site for the BBC receiving station ( which had to be reloated from Johore, Malaysia)  and the licence to be issued to the BBC for operating a transmitting station in Singapore, in consultation with AGC.
