Reuben Manasseh Meyer Trust Fund
IB Abbett's meetings anda correspondence with A. Oppenheim, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Malaya to discuss a sizeable endowment of $200,000 over 5 years to the university in the name of Jewish businessman and Philanthropist Sir Manasseh Meyer. Suggestions given included the donation of buildings, donating the salary of a 'Chair' (professor or faculty head), scholarships,lectureships.

Oppenheim also contacted bankers and architects (Palmer & Turner) to get a quotation for construction of buildings. Yong Nyuk Lin, the Minister for Education is mentioned pg 42 as being delighted at the generous gift. The university acknowledged the gift by renaming the Raffles Hall "Reuben Manasseh Meyer Dining Hall".
