Singapore. Legislative Assembly
Singapore¿s Legislative Assembly was formed under the recommendation of the Rendel Commission (1953). The first Legislative Assembly election was held in 1955 in which the Labour Party won the election and David Marshall became the Chief Minister. When Singapore, Sarawak and Sabah were merged with the existing states of Malaya to form the Federation of Malaysia, the Legislative Assembly in Singapore was retained. With the separation agreement in 1965, the Legislative Assembly was renamed the Parliament of Singapore.
