The Ministry of Law was merged with the Ministry of National Development in August 1965 to form the Ministry of Law and National Development. these two ministries were split in 1975.

Today, the Ministry of Law is responsible for the legal affairs and legislation of Singapore. It also overseas areas in consitutional business; lands; resgistration of titles and deeds; statutory petitions; administration of adjacent islands; patents and trademarks; appointment of  Juvenile Court advisors; and legal aid
