Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research (SISIR)
Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research (SISIR) started as the Industrial Research Unit within the Economic Development Board. The Unit was tasked with promoting quality consciousness among local manufacturers as well as serving as a technical and consultancy agency.
In 1973, the Standards and Industrial Research Bill was introduced and SISIR was established as a statutory board on 1 Oct 1973.
In 1996, SISIR was merged with the National Productivity Board (NPB) to form the Singapore Productivity and Standards Board (PSB).
