National Parks Board (NParks) is a statutory board under the Ministry of National Development (MND). It spearheads the mantianence of greenery in SIngapore, as well as the development of new parks and upgrading of existing ones. In 1975, MND set up a department called the Parks and Recreation Department (PRD). In 1990, a statutory board called The National Parks Board was set up, also under MND.In 1996, the 2 units merged .
