Previously under the Ministry of Labour, the Labour Relations Division's mission is to promote and maintain industrial peace and stability in Singapore. It formulates and reviews industrial relations policies and legislations regularly to ensure their continued relevance to the employers, workers and the economy. Besides these, the Industrial Relations department also plays a main role in harmonising the interest of workers in emplyment and promoting labour-management co-operation. They play these roles by helping to resolve disputes between employers and workers/unions, enforcing labour standards as stipulated in the Employment Act and promoting responsible unionism, enlightened management and tripartite co-operation.
The Industrial Relations department comes under the business group "Workplace Environment & Welfare" of the MOM. The Department comprises the Conciliation Section, the Registry of Trade Unions, the Labour Standards Section, the Retirement Age Section, the National Wages Council Secretariat and the International Labour Section.
