The Tanjong Pagar Dock Company was jointly set up in 1864 by Guthries and Tan kim Cheng. It amalgamated with the New Harbour Dock Company in 1899. in 1905, the Tanjong Pagar Dock Company was transformed into a publicly-owned Tanjong Pagar Dock Board. The Board was established as the Singapore Habour Board in 1913.
