Inaugural Transformers Run Singapore 2018

15 DECEMBER 2018, Singapore – The popular Transformers brand is a global franchise that can fire the imagination of fans and non-fans alike. For the first time in Singapore, event organisers I-PROMO (A Kingsmen Creative Company) and Infinite Possibilities Pte Ltd, with Official Community Partner South West Community Development Council (CDC) and community supporter Community Chest, as well as official event venue partner Sentosa, and official mall partner Kallang Wave Mall, will inaugurate the Transformers Run Singapore 2018 on 6 January 2018.

Hasbro International is the brand owner of the Transformers Run Singapore.

The Transformer Run welcomes all — from the special needs, young to the young-at-heart, families and friends — to come together to enjoy each other’s company and do good in support of SG Cares and to Celebrate Inclusiveness and Community Bonding. The run will be flagged off by Guest-of-Honour Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and hosted by Ms Low Yen Ling, Mayor of South West District.

The thematic of the run is based on the Transformers Generation One storyline. Transformers are a race of sentient robots that can change into vehicles, animal forms as well as other mechanical devices and shapes. There are two factions – the heroic Autobots are led by Optimus Prime; while the evil Decepticons are led by Megatron. Both teams are engaged in a civil war for ultimate dominance and this titanic struggle has spilled over to Earth.

The Run event will position itself as part of this battle. Participants will choose to be aligned with either Team Autobot or Team Decepticon. The run will reflect this struggle and official Transformers characters; banners and medium will be placed along the run route to reflect this epic feel of the franchise. Familiar characters like Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee, Starscream, Megatron and Grimlock will be situated along the run route for picture-taking and social media moments.

Each signed-up participant will get a goody bag consisting of an official Transformers Run T-shirt, a water bottle, a wristband as well as a drawstring bag and other partner goodies and discount coupons. The crown jewel of the goody bag is the Finisher Medal. These merchandise are exclusive and cannot be obtained outside of this run event. Goody bag collection will be from 27th to 31st December 2017.

The fun race also has an associated carnival with booths, games and activities, including NERF game trials, fun inflatables, balloon sculptures, on-stage contests and music, Transformer merchandise and other Transformers showcase. There will also be a meet-and-greet session with Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee! Food and beverage stalls will also cater to hungry and thirsty visitors. The Carnival starts at 12pm and runs until 8pm; and families are encouraged to use this opportunity to explore other attractions on Sentosa itself.

"We are indeed glad to be part of this consortium for the inaugural transformers run Singapore 2018 and pioneering it with the community element of bringing and connecting people, community groups and families together.  Through this great kick-start, we hope that there will be more of such collaborations between the private sector, the community groups and public agencies to uplift our inclusive community bonding, spirit and family values."

Mr Danny Lim, Managing Director, I-Promo Pte Ltd

The organizers will be incorporating a give-back-to-the-community portion for every run event ticket sold. This is to support local social and community causes and to use the race event as a platform to promote community bonding and inclusiveness. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to social service organisations supported by Community Chest and vulnerable families in the South West District.

South West CDC’s beneficiaries as well as other VWOs like Students Care Service and Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS - formerly known as Spastic Children Association) will be participating in this race. Together with the Para-athletics from CPAS, they will be leading the race from the front upon flag off.

Registration to the race is open and the organisers welcome sports enthusiasts, families and Transformer fans young and old alike to sign up.

The run will be manned by volunteers and the Singapore Boy Scouts Association. Volunteers may go to https://transformersrun.com.sg/ to register their interest.
