North West Community Development Council (CDC) is partnering Workforce Singapore (WSG) and NTUC Employment and Employability (e2i), with support from Grassroots Organisations (GROs) to organise the North West Career Fair Series – a series of four career fairs within the North West District to reach out to at least 1,000 resident jobseekers this year. This is part of the Government’s continual efforts to enhance employment support for Singaporeans amid a changing economic and manpower landscape. WSG and e2i will each partner North West CDC to co-organise 2 career fairs this year.
Minister for Home Affairs & Minister for Law and Adviser to Chong Pang GROs, Mr K. Shanmugan will kick-off the series in Nee Soon GRC on Thursday, 13 July 2017 at Chong Pang CC. The inaugural North West Career Fair @ Nee Soon GRC will be hosted by Mayor of North West District, Dr Teo Ho Pin.
Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs & Minister for Law and Adviser to Chong Pang GROs, says, “It is a key priority to help workers in jobs retain jobs and to help workers who lose their jobs find new jobs. Unemployment, though low, has went up last year. Economy is also transforming. We hope that this series of career fair will help our people.”
Dr Teo Ho Pin, Mayor of North West District, says, “Connecting the community has always been one of the North West CDC’s mission to bring government schemes or programmes closer to the ground. We are happy to partner WSG, e2i and supported by GROs to roll out a series of career fairs to benefit the residents. These career fairs will provide an excellent platform for residents to better relate the available job options with the various employers.”
North West Career Fair @ Nee Soon GRC will showcase 16 employers including The Singapore Island Country Club and Dairy Farm Groups, offering close to 1,000 job vacancies from operational, technical, and executive to management levels in sectors such as professional services, logistics, manufacturing, education, training and healthcare.
Residents can look forward to career opportunities in roles such as administrative assistant, system analyst, forklift driver, infant care assistant and therapist – amongst many others. Jobseekers will be encouraged to take on these roles and embark on their careers by tapping on WSG’s suite of Adapt & Grow programmes, including the Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) and Work Trial.
