
The Chief Minister of Yangon Region U Phyo Min Thein called on Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Masagos Zulkifli this morning. Minister Masagos and Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein discussed how hawker centres and water management were part of Singapore’s nation-building exercise. Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein is in Singapore from 3 to 6 July 2016 for a study visit at the invitation of Minister Masagos.
2 The visit takes place under the auspices of the Singapore-Myanmar Technical Cooperation Programme (SMTCP), one of several platforms through which Singapore shares expertise and experience to support Myanmar’s human resource development and capacity-building efforts.
3 Over the last two days, Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein received briefings from the Land Transport Authority, Housing and Development Board, Bishan‑Toa Payoh Town Council, Urban Redevelopment Authority, Building and Construction Authority, Public Utilities Board and National Environment Agency. He visited the Marina Barrage and participated in IE Singapore’s Global Conversations Session to discuss economic opportunities in Yangon.
4 Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein will be making site visits to Tiong Bahru Food Centre, Ci Yuan Hawker Centre, as well as Tuas South Incineration Plant today. The delegation will visit the NEWater Visitor Centre and the Port of Singapore Authority tomorrow. The delegation will be hosted to dinner by Senior Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office and for Foreign Affairs and Transport Ms Josephine Teo this evening.
