7 proposals shortlisted for
US$1 million Next Generation Container Port Challenge
 
Seven proposals have been shortlisted for the Next Generation Container Port (NGCP) Challenge and will be considered for the US$1 million top prize by an international judging panel.
 
The seven proposals were shortlisted from a total of 56 submissions from 25 countries. The seven shortlisted teams are as follow:

The NGCP Challenge was launched in April 2012 during the 7th Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) and closed on 31 December 2012. Jointly organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI), the NGCP Challenge seeks to identify innovative and breakthrough ideas on how to plan, design and operate the next generation of container ports that exemplify performance, productivity and sustainability. In addition to the top prize of US$1 million, commendation awards of US$100,000 each may also be awarded to deserving proposals. Up to S$5 million has also been set aside for further research and development of worthy concepts arising from the Challenge.
  
Shortlisted teams will be presenting their proposals to an international judging panel in early April 2013. The international judging panel, chaired by Mr Teo Siong Seng, Chairman, SMI, comprises representatives from Singapore government agencies and the maritime industry.

The shortlisted proposals will be exhibited at Sea Asia, booth J16, from 9 to 11 April at Marina Bay Sands.
 
The NGCP Challenge will come to an exciting close at the prestigious Singapore International Maritime Awards (IMA), held in conjunction with SMW 2013, on 11 April, where the results will be announced and the prizes awarded.

About the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI)
