Distinguished guests,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

1       Good evening.  I am pleased to be here today for the official launch of CNBC Asia’s brand new studio at the Singapore Exchange. The collaboration between SGX and CNBC to position its ‘live’ broadcast centre here in the heart of Singapore’s financial district, is not only testament to Singapore’s growing influence and importance as a financial centre for the region, but also underscores Singapore’s desire to encourage global media companies to enlarge their presence here.

2       Singapore is CNBC Asia’s headquarters, and CNBC has based their broadcast centre here since 1998. The move to this new studio is a significant additional investment in Singapore and Asia for CNBC, and it highlights their abiding commitment to our country and the region. I am pleased CNBC continues to deepen your presence here and I hope that you will thrive here for many years to come.

3       The global reach of CNBC to 350 million homes worldwide and 70 million in the Asia-Pacific region will raise the profile of the Singapore Exchange and consequently, Singapore as a financial hub. CNBC’s expansion is yet another indicator of the potential which Singapore's media sector offers.   The demand for media talent will also rise, and the Universities and Polytechnics are gearing up to meet this demand for quality and qualified talent. I am confident that a growing pool of well-trained, bright and inquisitive minds is ready to support the growth of media and journalism in Singapore.

4       I want to congratulate CNBC Asia and SGX for reaching a new milestone with this exciting partnership. I wish both companies great success in their collaboration. Thank you.
