Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Hamrokhon Zarifi, made an official visit to Singapore on 7-8 December 2009 at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo.


During the visit, Foreign Minister Zarifi and Minister Yeo discussed ways to enhance relations between Tajikistan and Singapore, including the possibility of organising high-level contacts and promoting greater bilateral economic cooperation. Foreign Minister Zarifi and Minister Yeo also exchanged views on key international and regional developments.


Foreign Minister Zarifi and Minister Yeo noted the importance of Tajikistan’s participation in the Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP), which is administered by the Technical Cooperation Directorate of the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Noting the success of the SCP in helping to foster greater mutual understanding and cooperation between Singapore and Tajikistan through the sharing of developmental experiences, Foreign Minister Zarifi and Minister Yeo agreed to step up cooperation under the auspices of the SCP.
