Members of the public are invited to nominate outstanding teachers for the President’s Award for Teachers 2009, the nation’s highest accolade in the teaching fraternity, starting today (2 Feb). The award will be conferred by the President at the Istana on Teachers’ Day.
The President’s Award for Teachers was introduced in 1998 to recognize excellent teachers for their dedication and hard work in developing our young.To date, 37 teachers have received the award.
Nominees must be teachers who are dedicated to the welfare, character and moral development of students. They must demonstrate that they have made exceptional efforts to nurture the spirit of enterprise, innovation and curiosity in our young and develop their potential. They must also be role models of continuous learning and exemplars to both their students and peers in word and deed.
Nomination forms are available at all primary and secondary schools, junior colleges, centralized institute, the Customer Service Centre of the Ministry of Education at 1 North Buona Vista Drive and at Teachers Network, 51 Grange Road.The forms can also be downloaded from the Ministry of Education’s website (www.moe.gov.sg) and the Teachers Network’s website (http://sam11.moe.gov.sg/tn/).The closing date for nominations is 27 February 2009.
