Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, Minister of State, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports is leading a delegation to the Second China-ASEAN High-Level Women’s Forum in Nanning, China, from 20 to 24 October 2008, on invitation by the President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), Mdm Gu Xiulian, who is also the Vice-Chairperson of the National People’s Congress.

 

2          The theme of the Forum is “A Harmonious Environment for Women’s Development”. Mrs Yu-Foo will be delivering a statement during the plenary session. There will be a roundtable for ministers to discuss Expanding Exchanges and Substantive Cooperation between Chinese and ASEAN Women, as well as Gender and National Disaster Mitigation.

 

3          Mrs Yu-Foo is accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.

 

4          After the Forum, Mrs Yu-Foo will lead a delegation comprising MCYS officers and representatives from VWO child care organisations on a study visit to Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing. The objective of the visit is to understand the early childhood policy, care, teacher training curriculum and standards, as well as meet early childhood experts in the People's Republic of China.
