1.    “I-Action@PRIDE: Involve, Inspire, Innovate” is the theme for this year’s MINDEF PRIDE Day.  Besides fostering an innovative and creative mindset in our people, the theme reaffirms MINDEF/SAF’s emphasis on personal involvement in the PRIDE (PRoductivity and Innovation in Daily Effort) movement.  MINDEF/SAF achieved total PRIDE savings of $343.2m in 2007.  These cost savings create capacity to reallocate resources to support the development of the 3rd Generation SAF. 

 

2.     Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean officiated at the 21st MINDEF PRIDE Day award presentation ceremony at the HDB Hub this afternoon. A total of 123 awards were presented to individuals, groups and units from MINDEF and the SAF in recognition of their outstanding contributions to improving work processes and operations.  At the exhibition, Minister Teo officially launched the 'Information on Preparation for National Service' (iPrepNS) website which won the “Work Improvement Teams – Outstanding Team Award”. 'iPrepNS' is an interactive multimedia website aimed at helping pre-enlistees prepare for and their parents understand full-time National Service. 

 

3.         The 21st MINDEF PRIDE Day exhibition will be opened to public from 29 to 30 May 2008 between 1000 hrs and 2000 hrs daily.  Innovative projects contributed by MINDEF/SAF personnel, ST Engineering, Defence Science Organisation and DSTA are on display.  Visitors will also be treated to exciting and fun-filled activities, games, live radio shows by Power 98 FM and JIA 88.3 FM, as well as performances by the SAF Music and Drama Company.
