INAUGURAL ASIA-EUROPE MEETING CONFERENCE OF MINISTERS FOR EDUCATION

INAUGURAL ASIA-EUROPE MEETING CONFERENCE OF MINISTERS FOR EDUCATION
1. Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, will attend the inaugural Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Conference of Ministers for Education in Berlin, Germany on 5 – 6 May 2008, before visiting the United Kingdom from 6 – 8 May 2008.

2. The ASEM Conference of Ministers for Education is the first meeting of Education Ministers from Asia and Europe. The ASEM Ministers will discuss cooperation between European and Asian countries in the areas of higher education and vocational training, among other issues.

3. While in Berlin, Dr Ng will meet with his German counterparts in Education and Defence. He will also visit schools and educational institutions.

4. While in the United Kingdom, Dr Ng will meet with leaders and professionals in education, and visit schools and educational institutions.

5.Dr Ng will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Education, principals and teachers.
