1.           Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean is on a three-day working visit to Thailand from 14 to 16 August 2007. While in Bangkok, Minister Teo will be calling on Thai Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont and Defence Minister GEN Boonrawd Somtas, and meet with other Thai senior defence officials.

2.            Minister Teo’s visit underscores the close and excellent bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Thailand. The Singapore Armed Forces and the Royal Thai Armed Forces cooperate closely on a broad spectrum of bilateral and multilateral activities, including training exercises and professional exchanges. Such interactions are mutually beneficial, enhancing the professionalism, mutual understanding and camaraderie between the officers and men of the two armed forces.
