NAVY INSPECTOR OF THE ROYAL SWEDISH NAVY CONFERRED PRESTIGIOUS MILITARY AWARD

1.         Rear-Admiral (RADM) Anders Grenstad, Navy Inspector of the Royal Swedish Navy, received Singapore’s prestigious military award, the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera) or Meritorious Service Medal (Military), from Minister for Defence Mr Teo Chee Hean at an investiture ceremony held at the Ministry of Defence this morning.

 

2.         RADM Grenstad was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (Military) in recognition of his significant role in enhancing the strong ties and good relations between the Republic of Singapore Navy and the Royal Swedish Navy. He actively facilitated the sharing of expertise and experience in submarine training and operations between the two navies. This close co-operation between the submarine communities of both navies has strengthened the submarine capabilities of the Republic of Singapore Navy. RADM Grenstad has promoted the exchange of professional knowledge in the area of mine countermeasure operations between the two navies. He has also actively encouraged regular interactions between the two navies through professional exchanges, cross-attendance of courses, visits and attachments for exercises. These interactions have enhanced the professionalism of the Royal Swedish Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy, and deepened the rapport and understanding between their officers and men.

 

3.         RADM Grenstad called on Mr Teo before the investiture ceremony. He also called on Chief of Defence Force Major-General Desmond Kuek and Chief of Navy RADM Ronnie Tay.
