SAF TANKER AIRCRAFT DEPLOYS TO THE GULF

Chief of Defence Force Major-General Desmond Kuek was at Changi Air Base this morning to send off a Republic of Singapore Air Force KC-135 tanker aircraft detachment which is being deployed to the Gulf. This is Singapore's latest contribution in support of the multinational reconstruction efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The KC-135 detachment will conduct air-to-air refuelling missions in support of the multinational forces during its three-month deployment.

Since 2003, the SAF has made three deployments of Landing Ships Tank, three deployments of KC-135 tankers and one C-130 aircraft deployment to the Gulf.
