RSAF FOKKER-50 RETURNS FROM SULAWESI

1.         The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Fokker-50 aircraft that was deployed to assist Indonesia in searching for the Adam Air Boeing 737 returned to Singapore at 1830 hrs today.  The Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant-General Ng Yat Chung and the Chief of Air Force, Brigadier-General Ng Chee Khern were at Changi Air Base to welcome the RSAF servicemen home.

 

2.         Since its deployment on 3 Jan, the RSAF Fokker-50 flew a total of 20 sorties, working closely with the TNI in support of Indonesia's search and locate operations. 

 

3.         As the search operations have entered a different phase, where the focus has shifted from aerial to sea searches, the Republic of Singapore Navy has earlier this week deployed 4 sets of Underwater Locator Beacon detectors and 6 personnel to assist Indonesia in the search for the flight recorders of the missing airliner. They were accompanied by 2 representatives from the Air Accident Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Transport.
