MINDEF: THAI ARMY CHIEF MAKES INTRODUCTORY VISIT TO SINGAPORE

 

                   The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army General Sonthi Boonyaratglin called on Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean at the Ministry of Defence this morning.  General Sonthi, who is in Singapore on a three-day introductory visit from 12 to 14 July 2006 at the invitation of Chief of Army Major-General Desmond Kuek, also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Ng Yat Chung.

 

2.                 General Sonthi’s visit underscores the longstanding and close defence ties between Singapore and Thailand. The Singapore Armed Forces and the Royal Thai Armed Forces interact regularly through exercises, courses and other professional exchanges. These interactions serve to strengthen the friendship and mutual understanding between the two armed forces.
