INTRODUCTORY VISIT BY COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF INDONESIAN NATIONAL DEFENCE FORCE
1. The Commander-in-Chief of the Indonesian National Defence Force Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Djoko Suyanto called on Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean at the Ministry of Defence this morning. ACM Suyanto also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General (LG) Ng Yat Chung and inspected a Guard of Honour as part of his introductory visit to Singapore from 7 to 9 March.2. ACM Suyanto recently took over as Commander-in-Chief of the Indonesian National Defence Force from General Endriartono Sutarto. ACM Suyanto was previously Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force, and in that capacity, was conferred the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentara) or Meritorious Service Medal (Military), in recognition of his outstanding contributions to forging closer ties between the Indonesian Air Force and Republic of Singapore Air Force.
3. During his visit, ACM Suyanto also co-chaired with LG Ng an annual forum focused on achieving greater professional cooperation between the Indonesian National Defence Force and the Singapore Armed Forces. ACM Suyanto's visit reflects the long tradition of close professional cooperation and interaction between the two armed forces.
