FPDA COUNTRIES TAKE PART IN EXERCISE SUMAN WARRIOR 05

1.         The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is participating in a Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) exercise code-named Exercise Suman Warrior 05. Suman Warrior is a series of FPDA land exercises held annually. This year's exercise, hosted by the United Kingdom, is held in Kuantan, Malaysia. The exercise involves soldiers from Headquarters 7th Singapore Infantry Brigade (7 SIB) and their FPDA counterparts from Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Today, senior commanders from the participating nations visited the exercise. The two-week exercise will end on 4 Oct 05.

2.            Exercise Suman Warrior 05 aims to enhance the inter-operability of the FPDA armies and allow them to gain a better understanding of each other's organisation and capabilities.  This year’s highlights include Non Combatant Evacuation Operations (NEO) planning and discussions. The exercise also enables the exchange of professional expertise among the participants and increases mutual understanding between the armed forces of the FPDA countries.

3.         The FPDA was formed in 1971 and is an important part of the regional security architecture. Earlier this month, the FPDA also successfully conducted Exercise Bersama Lima.  The SAF’s participation in these regular exercises underscores our commitment to the FPDA.
