
MEWR PRESS RELEASE, 30 MAY 2005: SINGAPORE GREEN PLAN 2012 AWARDS - NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR 2005 AWARDS
Nominations for the SGP2012 Awards are now open from 30 May 2005 and will close on 22 July 2005. Nominations can be submitted online at the following address (http://app.mewr.gov.sg/sgp2012/awardnom/).
2 The Singapore Green Plan 2012 (SGP 2012) Award was launched in 2004 to recognise role models of environmental protection. The awards were presented to individuals and organizations that had made outstanding contributions towards
3 We welcome nominations for companies which have adopted best practices that far exceeded regulatory requirements, and organisations including grassroots organisations and non-government organisations that have helped to raise environmental awareness of its customers and the public. We also seek to give recognition to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the environmental wellbeing of the community.
4 There is only one award category with no quota set to the number of winners. Details of the nomination guidelines of the Award are in the Annex.
5 A selection panel comprising representatives from the 3P (Public, Private and People) sectors will decide on the award recipients. Award winners will be informed in October 2005.

NOMINATION GUIDELINES FOR THE SGP2012 AWARD
1 The Singapore Green Plan 2012 (SGP2012) Award is an award to recognise organisations and individuals who have contributed significantly to
2 Any contribution that helps to meet any of the SGP 2012 targets on Clean Air, Clean Water, Waste Management, Public Health, Conserving Nature and International Environmental Relations will be considered favourably.
3 Individuals, companies and organisations (NGOs, volunteer groups, grassroots organisations, institutions, public agencies, etc.) that have good environmental track records and have contributed to environmental sustainability are eligible.
4 We are looking for:
a) Individuals who have
i) contributed to the environment without personal gain
ii) contributed to the environmental well-being of the community
iii) brought about a sustained positive environmental impact
iv) initiated/participated in programmes that are sustained over time and will be continued into the future
b) Companies that have
i) adopted best practices and processes resulting in environmental performances that exceed regulatory requirements
ii) contributed to good environmental practices in areas outside of its direct business interests
iii) brought about a sustained positive impact on the environment
iv) initiated/participated in programmes that are carried out on a sustained basis and will be continued into the future
c) Organisations that have
i) helped others adopt environmental best practices
ii) contributed to environmental awareness of others
iii) promoted public/industry participation in environmental programmes/ activities
iv) brought about sustained positive environmental impact
vi) initiated/participated in programmes that are carried out on a sustained basis and will be continued into the future
