CROWN PRINCE OF BRUNEI TO VISIT SINGAPORE

1.          His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam, will be in Singapore on an official visit from 8 to 12 March 2005 at the invitation of Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean. His Royal Highness will be accompanied by his wife, Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi.

 

2.         The visit programme of His Royal Highness Prince Billah includes meetings with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew. The royal couple will call on President S R Nathan and be hosted to dinner at the Istana. His Royal Highness will also visit the SAF’s Changi Naval Base and HQ Commando to observe some of the SAF’s hardware and capabilities.

 

3.          Singapore and Brunei enjoy a long history of close friendship and cooperation. The warm and friendly ties between the SAF and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) form an important pillar of this relationship. The two armed forces exercise together regularly and have numerous bilateral interaction programmes, which include professional and sports exchanges. These activities and the participation of RBAF personnel in courses alongside SAF personnel have deepened mutual understanding and enhanced the professionalism of both armed forces.
