DR LIM KENG YAIK, MALAYSIAN MINISTER FOR ENERGY, WATER AND COMMUNICATIONS VISITS SINGAPORE

Dr Lim Keng Yaik, Malaysian Minister for Energy, Water and Communications Visits Singapore

           

           

            Malaysia's Minister for Energy, Water and Communications, Dr Lim Keng Yaik, will visit Singapore from 27-28 January 2005.  The visit will further strengthen Singapore's warm and fruitful relations with Malaysia, our closest neighbour.

 

2          Dr Lim is visiting Singapore at the invitation of Dr Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts.  The two Ministers last met in December 2004, when Dr Lee visited Kuala Lumpur.

 

3          Dr Lim will call on Dr Lee Boon Yang and witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to implement a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) on Telecommunications Equipment.  The MOU will be signed by Mr Leong Keng Thai, Deputy CEO of Singapore Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and Dato’ V Danapalan, Chairman of Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

 

4          Dr Lim will also be meeting Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim and Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.  He will also visit the NEWater Visitor Centre, Media Development Authority (MDA) and IDA.

 

5          Dr Lim will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications, the Malaysian Multimedia and Communications Commission; and the Tenaga Nasional Berhad.
