PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE

12TH APEC ECONOMIC LEADERS’ MEETING

SANTIAGO, CHILE, 20-21 NOVEMBER 2004

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will attend the 12th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Santiago, Chile, from 20 to 21 November 2004.

He will be accompanied by Mrs Lee Hsien Loong, Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

While in Santiago, Prime Minister Lee will have bilateral meetings with other APEC Leaders, including his Chilean host, President Ricardo Lagos. Prime Minister Lee will also deliver a keynote address at the APEC CEO Summit on 19 November 2004.

During the Prime Minister's absence from 17-23 November 2004, Deputy Prime Minister and Co-ordinating Minister for Security and Defence Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam will be the Acting Prime Minister.
