PRESS STATEMENT
APPOINTMENT OF PERMANENT SECRETARY
Mr Peter Ong, Second Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, will be appointed Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport with effect from 1 July 2002. He will replace Mr Alan Chan, who will be on no-pay leave from the civil service to join Singapore Press Holdings Ltd as its Group President on the same date. Mr Ong will relinquish his current appointment of Second Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence.
