PRESS RELEASE ON REVISED NATIONAL SERVICE ALLOWANCE
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will be increasing the monthly National Service (NS) allowance for Full-time National Servicemen (NSFs) in SPF and SCDF with effect from 1 July 2002. The tables with the current and revised NS allowances for SPF and SCDF are shown in Annexes A1 and A2.
The revised NS allowance in both SPF and SCDF would comprise rank allowance and operational allowance. NSFs in the Home Team who perform operational duties, such as Neighbourhood Police Centre officers, Dog Handlers, Fire Fighters, Medical Orderlies attached to ambulances, Rescue and HazMat Specialists will receive the operational allowance.
SPF and SCDF will also increase the current allowance given to Operationally-ready National Servicemen (NSmen) holding key and command appointments with effect from 1 July 2002. The revised Key Appointment Holders and Responsibility allowances are shown in Annexes BI and B2 respectively.
The revisions are similar to those of the Singapore Armed Forces.
