COMMUNITY JOB FAIR ON 19 JANUARY 2002 OFFERS OVER 1000 VACANCIES -- ALSO FEATURING THE LAUNCH OF SOUTH WEST CDC’S ON-LINE JOB PORTAL


The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is jointly organising a Community Job Fair with the South West Community Development Council (CDC). This event is supported by the Singapore National Employers' Federation (SNEF), NTUC, AsiaOne Careers and various self-help groups. The event will be held on Saturday, 19 January 2002, from 1:00pm to 5:30pm at Jurong East Bus Interchange. Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, Mayor of South West CDC will be visiting the fair at 2:30pm for a tour as well as to officiate the launch of South West CDC’s on-line job portal to introduce the CDC’s new e-Job Matching SMS System. Mrs Yu-Foo will take her leave at about 4.00pm.

Community Job Fair

Twenty-seven hiring organisations would be at the fair to promote their job openings and recruit suitable job candidates. The recruiting agencies include MOM, the Singapore Police Force as well as private companies from the services and manufacturing sectors. There will be over 1,000 job openings offered at the fair. These include Administrative Assistants/Executives, Accounts Assistants/Executives, Hotel Frontline Officers & Room Attendants, Patient Service Associate, Production Operators, Engineers, IT Professionals, Sales Executives/ Managers & CISCO Police Officers. MOM is also looking for candidates to fill temporary positions such as Labour Relations Officers, Employment Inspectors and Corporate Support Officers.

Various self-help groups like the CDAC, MENDAKI and SINDA, as well as NTUC will be at the fair to offer training opportunities to job seekers and register interested candidates for their Skills Redevelopment Programme and other training courses.

SOUTH WEST CDC ON-LINE JOB PORTAL

 

The South West CDC on-line job portal is a new initiative to make the job matching process more comprehensive and efficient. There will be 8 terminals for residents to use the system during the job fair, and officers will be there to assist residents and guide them through the system.

MOM and the CDCs will continue to organise job fairs & other initiatives at the community level to bring together job seekers and hiring companies.
