CAREERLINK@MOM – MINISTRY OF MANPOWER’S NEW ONE-STOP CAREER CENTRE

CareerLink@mom is a prototype career centre set up by the Ministry of Manpower. It offers a convenient, one-stop advisory and information service to help Singaporeans meet their immediate employment and training needs and enhance their long-term employability.

2. Minister of State for Manpower, Mr Othman Haron Eusofe, will officiate at the opening ceremony of CareerLink@mom on Thursday, 11 January 2001.

  1. CareerLink@mom’s main focus is on self-help as its emphasis is on promoting personal responsibility in career planning and learning. The launch of the centre is timely in meeting the challenges and uncertainty brought about by the New Economy, which provides for greater opportunities for job enlargement and advancement, but at the same time, raised threats of job redundancy and job loss.
  2. For workers, CareerLink@mom provides important labour market information relating to growth industries and emerging skills demands, offers career counselling and job search skills training, gives advice on suitable training courses, as well as, job matching assistance. For employers, the centre helps them to meet their manpower needs and facilitate their recruitment and development of workers. Please refer to Appendix for a comprehensive list of CareerLink@mom’s services.

5. CareerLink@mom is located at the Ministry of Manpower, 18 Havelock Road, Level 1, Singapore 059764. Operation hours are :

Monday to Friday - 8.30 am to 5.30 pm

Saturday - 8.30 am to 1.00 pm

Services Available at CareerLink@mom

  1. Self-Help Resources
  2. We provide computers for users to surf the Internet to search for job and learning opportunities, try out different career assessment tools available on CD-ROMs and on the Internet, and prepare their résumés.


    There is also a wide range of career resources, such as books, publications and multimedia materials on job search, résumé writing, job interview skills, career management, human resource matters, company annual reports and labour market reports, available for browsing.

  3. Career Coaching
  4. Career planning is an important aspect in our lives. Using a licensed methodology, our career coaches guide customers through a rewarding and fruitful journey in gaining hidden or new insights about themselves, which are important in their career decision-making.

  5. Workshops
  6. We run workshops to equip users with the necessary job search skills to enhance their success of landing the right job. These include résumé writing skills and preparation for job interviews.

     

  7. Enhanced Job Assistance

This service will assist customers who are unable or have not developed the ability to use the services by themselves. Our Career Officers will assist customers in their job search via iJOBS (MOM’s internet job bank), other job channels, or provide advice on alternative job opportunities and training.
