The SAF and Police nominate only officers of exemplary conduct and character for appointment to the ADC Corps. Appointed officers must satisfy the stringent criteria set by the President’s Office.
ADCs perform a multitude of tasks as facilitators and personal representatives of the President. They are identifiable by the thick distinctive cords known as "Aiguilettes" worn across their right shoulders. The duties of Hon ADCs range from receiving and ushering dignitaries and guests at Presidential and State functions to receiving and sending off Foreign Heads of State on transit in Singapore. They are also assigned to escort Foreign Heads of State during their official visits to Singapore.
