The Ministry of Community Development (MCD) will release 10 void deck sites for child care centres through tender. The sites to be released is the 15^th batch. They are located at Clementi, Sengkang, Sembawang, Jurong West and Joo Seng Road. The centres will provide an additional 811 child care places. This will build on the current network of 529 child care centres which provide 43,630 child care places.

The Housing and Development Board (HDB) will invite private operators to tender on Friday, 3 December 1999 and Saturday, 4 December 1999. MCD will be conducting briefing sessions on Saturday, 4 December 1999 and 11 December 1999 and a show round of a few of the sites offered for tender on Saturday, 11 December 1999.
