The President has appointed Mr Lim Kim San, Executive Chairman of Singapore Press Holdings Ltd, Dr Michael Fam, Executive Chairman of the Fraser & Neave Group, and Dr Cheong Siew Keong, Chairman of the National University Hospital, as members of the Council of Presidential Advisers for a further period of six years with effect from 2 January 1998.

Mr Lim Kim San will continue as Chairman of the Council. Dr Michael Fam was re-appointed on the advice of the Prime Minister while Dr Cheong Siew Keong was re-appointed on the advice of the Chairman, Public Service Commission.

The other members of the Council are Mr Lee Seng Wee, Chairman and CEO of OCBC Ltd, Mr Ridzwan Dzafir, Director-General of the Trade Development Board, and Mr Sim Kee Boon, Chairman of Keppel Corporation Ltd.
