SINGAPORE PUBLIC HOLIDAYS FOR THE YEAR 1998

1 The dates for the eleven specified public holidays for 1998 are as follows:

New Year's Day - Thursday 1 January 1998

Chinese New Year - Wednesday 28 January 1998

- Thursday 29 January 1998

Hari Raya Puasa - Friday 30 January 1998

Hari Raya Haji - Tuesday 7 April 1998

Good Friday - Friday 10 April 1998

Labour Day - Friday 1 May 1998

Vesak Day - *Sunday 10 May 1998

National Day - *Sunday 9 August 1998

Deepavali - Monday 19 October 1998

Christmas Day - Friday 25 December 1998

* The following Monday will be a public holiday.

2 The date, 19 October 1998, for Deepavali is based on the calculations as before. It will be counter-checked with the Indian Almanacs when they are available towards the end of 1997 as the actual Deepavali date is based on the Indian Almanacs. Should there be a difference, the Ministry of Labour would announce it accordingly towards the end of 1997.
