Synopsis :

This series plunges us deep into the bizarre and curious world of social eating, also known as Mukbang, where everyday people earn a huge online following by eating in front of a camera. Aaron Craze, a chef, foodie and father of 4 girls, is our host who uncovers the success stories of female social eaters in Korea and China. Along his journey, our host is inspired by encounters with other women who have a unique relationship to food. He learns how these millennial women use their capabilities, wits and technological know-how to defy social conventions and make inroads into gender inequality, while staying true to themselves. Our host then faces off with the social eating beauty in a man vs woman food challenge. Episode 1 - Korea - Aaron travels to Seoul to meet Shoogi, one of Korea’s top female Mukbang stars. He finds out what sacrifices she makes for her fans and learns about the dark side of the social eating world. In Jeju, he meets Ryo-Jin, a young single mother who is training to become a Haenyo diver, just like her own mother. Together they run a restaurant which serves the fresh delicacies that they have put their lives at risk to harvest from the sea. Back in Seoul, Aaron connects with Vivian Kim, Korea’s first renowned plus-sized model and understands why she is radically different from other Koreans who prefer plastic surgery and stick-thin women.
