Synopsis :Story narrated by Singapore storyteller Lee Dai Soh, broadcast on Rediffusion radio station.
(1) The tale of Siong Ngor (Chang'e) has been popular since the Han Dynasty and she is the wife of How Ngai (Hou Yi) who is an excellent archer. He shoots and extinguishes 9 of the 10 suns that was in the sky at the time, bringing the people's agony to an end. But How Ngai is not a benevolent man. He desires a woman by the name of Yoon Chai who is married to How Kwai and has a son, Pak Fung. At the advise of his subordinate, Hou Tsuk, How Ngai plans to take Yoon Chai by force.
(2) How Ngai gives Siong Ngor a box of immortality pills for safekeeping before he leaves on his quest for Yoon Chai. Pak Fung is no match for How Ngai and is brutally killed. How Ngai returns victorious with Yoon Chai but Siong Ngor is nowhere in sight. Being a cruel man, How Ngai interrogates his maid servants and one of them reveals that Siong Ngor had taken the immortality pills and floated towards the moon. But in actual fact, Siong Ngor had escaped from the evil crutches of How Ngai and the maid servant had said so to end his punishment of the other maids. To avenge the death of her son, Yoon Chai garners the help of Hou Tsuk to have How Ngai killed. A warrior, Pong Mong, who trained under How Ngai is engaged to murder How Ngai when he is drunk.
