  • Synopsis :

In a speech at his Diamond Jubilee celebration in September 1955, Sultan Ibrahim of Johor thanks those attending the ceremony like High Commissioners, Sultans of other Malayan states and the Raja of Perlis for their presence to celebrate his 60 years on the throne as well as his 82nd birthday. He then touches on the need for law and order. The Sultan feels that a lot of people want independence from the British, but he is not in favour of Malaya's independence in the absence of adequate defence capabilities. He suggests the if the British leave Malaya, the country will be susceptible to attacks from different quarters. The Sultan's speech is followed by prayers for his well-being after which the commentator gives a descriptive account of the subsequent proceedings in which guests mingle with one another.
