  • Synopsis :

Two  segments covered in this programme:

    1.   Sex Change: The Transexual Trauma  -   looks at why people resort to sex change, the psychiatric and medical tests involved, the operation itself, and the social questions associated with it. Includes interviews with people who have gone through the operation on their new identities and social roles.

    2.    Bastille Day Celebrations  -  the 14th of July  is Bastille Day. France celebrates the 200th anniversary of the storming of the Bastille - a symbol of French struggle for freedom from repression. But the "Glorious 14th" may not receive its traditional Gallic enthusiasm, particularly from Parisians. They are even calling Bastille Day "le Flop".
