  • Synopsis :

    Three segments covered in this programme:  


    1.   Leaving Afghanistan   -    examines what lies ahead for Afghanistan as Soviet forces  withdraw from the country, leaving it under virtual siege by Mujahideen guerrillas, widespread hunger and confusion.

    2.  The Question Of Palestine   -   with the Palestine Liberation Organisation's (PLO) declaration of the State of Palestine and its endorsement of the United Nations (UN) resolutions 242 and 338, the ball seems to be on the Israeli side for a response. This segment looks at the question of Palestine, the topic for a UN conference in Singapore.  

    3.   Pop USSR   -   in Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev's Soviet Union, the arts and rock music are flourishing. This segment looks into the country's pop scene.
