Synopsis :This recording contains two programmes:
1. The first programme 'Lagu lagu Seriosa' features a selection of semi--classical Malay songs performed by various artistes. The songs include favourites like 'Malam Kenangan','Bintang Sejuta' and 'Kisah Mawar di Malam Hari'.
2. The second programme 'Gedung Kesenian' looks at the evolution of Malay and aboriginal music and the various percussion and wind instruments used in this kind of music. It also touches on the strong influence of Hindu culture and customs on the Malays. This cultural influence has remained despite the spread of Islam in the Malay Peninsula.
